Funeral movement from Beethoven's Third Symphony. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
The Funeral movement from Beethoven's Third Symphony was played by the Boston Symphony when JFK was assassinated.
Beethoven's Fifth Symphony has always been a symbol of victory, presumably because the first four notes are the same as the "V" in Morse Code. For me the person Beethoven was physically and psychologically pained, yet this symphony ends as a victory celebration. Beethoven's symphonies are a metaphor for the power of the human spirit to triumph over adversity.

There was a sense of loss and yearning in the whole region for the first days and weeks after the Twin Towers fell. Although I did not know any of the dead, I still felt the the pall hanging over my adopted city. I kept playing this disc, and this song in paticular.
The contexts are of course entirely different, but needing to see a loved on again, or missing him dearly and fearing the worst, or simply needing the comfort of his words or his touch aren't tied to any specific time or place

Moment Away, Dana Fuchs
This song says what is needed with the proper feel. Anyone who listens to it would almost certainly agree.

Moment Away by the Dana Fuchs Band
This song evokes the hole in the sky that New Yorkers continue to see when we scan the downtown horizon. We remember what it felt like to say "so long" to our loved ones in the morning...and to be one of the fortunate ones to say hello at day's end. Dana represented so many New Yorkers when she volunteered services at ground zero---from donating clean socks and water to workers, to cheering on convoys on West St. I will always associate the post 9/11 weeks with Dana & the band's actions and music.

A Moment Away - Dana Fuchs
I can't think of a more appropriate song, sung by a more soulful resident of NYC. Dana is true to her music, true to her fans and true to her heart and soul. When it comes to the family, friends and loved ones of the 3000+ precious lives lost on 9/11, it's the only song that has a prayer of a chance to capture even a moment of what they must have felt. Dana rocks...with SOUL.

Moment Away by Dana Fuchs
It just fits. The song is so moving and kind of about people you have lost but are still there by your side and I think that's a wonderful message for the people who have lost one or more loved-ones on 9/11

Moment Away - Dana Fuchs and Jon Diamond Acoustic Perfomance
Touches your heart and soul and takes note of the emotions all of NYC was going through that day....the searching, the tears, the sadness and the hope....

Dana Fuch's Band-"Moment Away"
It speaks to the fragility of life, and how we should take nothing for granted. The first time I ever heard it, I had to pull off the road because it touched me so deeply.
