SONiA - I am the enemy

:

Hi, I was as a trouble shooter for our international company at 9/11 in Czech´s mountain side. In the afternoon at 4 pm the break time for the 2.shift had started. With one engineer who could speak english I went to the engines to check the operation. Suddenly he was called by mobile phone and getting nervous. "What´s going on?"-"? Bombs on NY ! 3.world war has started" My counterpartner and friend had to learn Russian in school, like I had to learn English in our german school.

Dana Fuchs - Moment away

:

I think this is a lovely, haunting reminiscence of that horrible, horrible day - yet it still retains a sense of hope. And Dana Fuchs is, I sincerely believe, the finest singer of our day.

Her emotion and the emotion of the whole situation make it very difficult not to cry when listening. Beautiful song from a beautiful person with an awesome voice.

I WON"T BACK DOWN by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

:

September 11 should be marked as a day of resolve and courage which is why that song must be played.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers performed the song "I Won't Back Down" on the telethon ("A Tribute to Heroes; to raise funds for the Sept 11 victims) and it was the only song (that I recall in the program) & performance that was "Defiant / Challenging" to those who attacked us (and their supporters) and not weepy or maudlin.

The Sept 11 dead & injured were victims of an attack by non- nation state terrorists who were supported / sponsored by Afghanistan - Iran - Saudi Arabia. Our remembrance of Sept 11 should be of courage and defiance to all terrorists and all of their secular and theological supporters.

The first time I heard this song, I couldn't help but cry. I'm sure so many people went through what the song is talking about and I'm sure it will touch so many others.

While You were Sleeping, by Elvis Perkins

:

Mysterious, sad, and apparently written before the singer/songwriter lost his mother Berry Berenson in the attacks. (She was on one of the planes.)

Jessica Molaskey's performance of "I'll be seeing you"

:

shortly after 9/11 my husband and I went to hear John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey at The Feinstein's. Jessica's performance of "I'll be seeing you" was so delicate, deeply felt, almost entrancing. I think it was the first time I allowed myself to feel deep grief, sadness and hope after the events of 9/11. I worked in downtown at the time, and it took me a very long time to recover. Jessica's performance made me feel things again
