New York Groove - Ace Frehley on guitar with KISS
On about September 14, with the acrid smoke still filling the air, it was late afternoon and I was waiting for the light to change so I could cross the street at Amsterdam and West 75th. A black car came rolling up Amsterdam with its windows down and this song blasting out for us all to hear...and ponder. It's about resiliency. It's about pride of place. It's about shared experiences. My wife and I moved to NYC at the end of 1999. She's from DC. I'm from San Francisco. The trajedy and trauma of 9/11 are etched in our memories. While we will never be "natives", 9/11 hastened our becoming "New Yorkers." "New York Groove" brought a smile and a sense of belonging during a terrible time.
