"Dayvan Cowboy" by Boards of Canada

Some may hear the crashing drums that come in later in this instrumental as representing the buildings coming down. For me, the planes hitting and buildings falling happen during the sustained intro guitar--against the backdrop of the clear blue sky. The strings that come in just before the crashing drums make me think of those who first responded to the attacks rushing to action, and the crashing drums are both the difficulty and the persistence they had in what they did. The way we came together as a country immediately after 9/11 is the most significant thing for me, and I wanted a song that exemplified this quality.
