Bernstein's Jeremiah Symphony

:

I saw the whole thing happen outside my office window. Because I live in NJ, I saw the downtown fires and smoke from the Lincoln Tunnel helix or GWB that were visible for months.

It was hard sleeping, concentrating, or listening to music at that time - but I found Bernstein's "Jeremiah" oddly comforting. The story is far from happy...but the music is beautiful, even hopeful. Bernstein was the one who drew me to classical music; perhaps it was fitting that his music was there for me at that time.
